From the recording New Skin
Lyrics
New Skin *(by Judy Kass)
Capsized hopes and drowning dreams
Live in my mind’s dark extremes
In the light of what I know
I gently thank and let them blow away
Much of life I spend alone
In a crowd or on my own
I find my comfort safe inside
Till the places where I hide give way
Change can feel like ripping off
A bandage from new skin
Till I let it in
Some things need a different tack
And sometimes forward steps you back
Some things work out on their own
Some mysteries are never known or found
Hold on
Why do I
Hold on
I know well that nothing lasts
And life’s not lived clung to the past
So, in the light of what I know
I find relief in letting go today
And, change can feel like ripping off
A bandage from new skin
Still I’ll let it in
Still I’ll let it in
